Whether you are gathering with friends, families or even coworkers, the perfect party requires a little planning. Here are a few tips for planning the perfect holiday get together;

Date – this should be the first thing you do when planning a party. Having the date already in mind will allow you to pick the perfect venue, such as Los Gatos Brewing Co.!

Theme – picking a theme for your party can really make it exciting! You can choose from it being a winter wonderland to an ugly sweater party (this one is our favorites).

Make the Guest List – try to invite people who may or may not know each other, so there are new faces for people to start up a conversation with.

Invitation/RSVP – If you are having a themed party, make your invitations related to that theme! You can send them out via e-mail, postal mail or a Facebook event. Make sure to include the date, time, place and RSVP information inside.

Menu – choose food that can be easily eaten while standing up, and not super messy. The best party foods are those you can just pop in your mouth. Remember to have food choices for vegetarians and vegans, too.

Music – get all of your favorite holiday songs and current music out today to make the perfect playlist to dance and sing along to!

Venue – one of the most important tasks is to know where you are holding the party. This gives you a heads up on how many people you can invite, how much food and drinks you will need to have, and most importantly, get the perfect venue before someone else chooses it!

The San Pedro Square location of Los Gatos Brewing Co. offers the perfect setting for large parties and private dining in San Jose. Our beautiful restaurant will impress friends, family, and corporate party planners. Book your party venue today!

Parties are always plentiful and so are reasons to whip up a good cocktail! And nothing makes a party merry than a good tasting beverage that celebrates the spirits, in more ways than one! Here are a few of our favorite cocktails to help you ring in the New Year;

Wassail – reminiscent of a mug of warm cider or ale, this concoction includes cider, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus fruit, sugar and cloves. There are many variations – ours includes brandy.

Angel’s Delight – creamy, pink and absolutely delightful, this beverage is a semi-classic cocktail ideal for dessert and features cream, triple sec, gin and dashes of grenadine.

Egg Nog – probably the most popular of all holiday beverages, this classic creamy delight features milk, cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, egg yolks and rum.

Christmas Jones – this sweet highball blends strawberries, pineapple and vodka. Topped with lemon-lime soda, it’s a refreshing holiday treat!

Glogg/Mulled Wine – usually a red wine combined with spices including cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, cloves and blended with raisins and brandy.

Candy Cane – a delectable dessert drink made with peppermint, chocolate and berry flavors, the name alone will get anyone in the holiday spirit!

Caroling Wine – after a frosty night of holiday caroling, this marvelous hot drink featuring allspice berries, red wine mixed with fruit juices and an assortment of spices, no one will be left in the cold.

Grinch – despite its name, this cocktail is actually sweet and reminiscent of what changed the Dr. Seuss’s character. Featuring Midori, lemon juice and simple syrup, this cocktail is sure to change the heart of any Grinch this holiday season.

Hot Buttered Rum – a traditional winter beverage with the tastes of butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and dark rum perfect for any yuletide gathering.

Serving only the freshest and finest in California cuisine, The Los Gatos Brewing Company is a fashionable watering hole and premier eatery for good food in San Jose and Los Gatos offering the best delights of the season. Pencil in some time for yourself and stop by either location and enjoy a cocktail or two!

But, within those whiskey stories one thing is consistent – the absolute love of whiskey’s aromatic taste.

Whiskey comes in a variety of flavors that derive from different grains such as barley, malted barley, rye, wheat and corn. It’s very strictly regulated worldwide with many classes and types based on the fermentation of grains, distillation, and aging in wooden barrels.

Many countries around the world generate their own whiskies, with varying degrees of color, additives and alcohol content, giving the world an array of whiskey choices. Los Gatos Brewing Company has its own love of whiskey, which provides for the extensive line they carry. At Los Gatos Brewing Company, you’ll find;

But, did you know that tequila was first produced in the 16th century near the location of the city of Tequila? The fermented beverage from the agave plant was previously produced by the Aztec people long before the Spanish arrived in 1521. The Spanish conquistadors then began to distill agave after they ran out of their own brandy, thus making North America’s first indigenous distilled spirit.

More than 300 million blue agave plants are harvested each year in the region surrounding the city of Tequila. The red volcanic soil is particularly well suited to the growing the plant. Agave tequila grows differently depending on the region. Blue agaves grown in the highlands region are larger in size and sweeter in aroma and taste. Agaves harvested in the lowlands, on the other hand, have a more herbaceous fragrance and flavor.

Thirsty yet? Los Gatos Brewing Company was established in Los Gatos in 1991 to quench the growing thirst for restaurants in Los Gatos and San Jose. Along with its fabulous food a wide selection of tequilas are also available for you to enjoy. We don’t like to name drop but, here’s who can be seen from the self;

If you left it up to a wine lover, wine would come before and after every meal. But, dessert wines are exceptional in taste and leave you feeling satisfied and fulfilled. There is no simple definition of a dessert wine. In Europe, a dessert wine is simply sweeter than others. In the U.S., it’s based on alcohol levels that are higher than 14%.

However, makers of dessert wines clearly want to please both by producing a wine containing higher levels of both sugar and alcohol. There are many ways to increase sweetness in the final wine. Some growers let it happen naturally, others add either sugar or alcohol.

Of course, some grapes are more naturally sweet than others, such as Muscat, Ortega and Huxelrebe. With variations on regions and production techniques, the possibilities are as endless as their serving partners. A general rule is that a dessert wine should be sweeter than the food it’s being served with. But, in many people’s opinion, its perfect just as it is.

Los Gatos Brewing Company offers a fantastic assortment of dessert wines like Vin de Glaciere Late Harvest Riesling, Dolce Liquid Gold Late Harvest Wine, Hartley and Gibson Solera P.X Sherry Pedro Ximenz, and Fonseeca Bin No. 27 Port just to name a few. They are the perfect way to compliment any occasion, even if it’s simply the end of a wonderful meal.
